The important distinction is that PEMF does not “rebuild” cells in the way a machine repairs a damaged part. Instead, researchers are studying whether electromagnetic fields may influence the body’s existing processes involved in maintaining and repairing tissue.

Early research by Bassett, Mitchell, and Gaston examined the use of pulsing electromagnetic fields in difficult-to-heal fractures, contributing to continued interest in electromagnetic therapies in medicine.


Today, some equine professionals incorporate PEMF as one component of a larger wellness program. However, it should be viewed as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for veterinary evaluation or appropriate medical treatment.

For riders, PEMF may be considered one piece of a broader wellness approach. Strength training, mobility work, adequate nutrition, quality sleep, and appropriate recovery remain the foundation of staying physically capable.


Technology is most effective when it complements healthy habits rather than replacing them.
